From the time I started trainspotting in February 1950, until the end of British Railways steam in 1968, I underlined each engine sighting in my Ian Allan ABC's.

  Where 3 or  less locomotives were needed to complete the class, these were 5908 Moreton Hall, 5023 Brecon Castle, 34068 Kenley, 34080 74 Squadron, 34084 253 Squadron, 46105 Cameron Highlander, 46107 Argyll & Sutherland Highlander, 30914 Eastbourne, 1001 County of Bucks, 7804 Baydon Manor, 7814 Fringford Manor.
   
  The absence of Eastern Region/ex LNER locomotives will be noted.  Class A4 24/34 (71%), Class A3 37/77 (48%), Class A2 19/40 (47%), Class A1 31/50 (62%). Visits to the Eastern & North Eastern Regions were rare.
